The Chapels
The choir sings regularly at the Tower of London's two chapels, the 16th century Chapel of St. Peter ad Vincula and the Chapel of St. John the Evangelist, which dates from the time of William the Conqueror (1066-87).
A chapel may have stood on the site of St. Peter ad Vincula since before the Norman Conquest. The existing building was erected for Henry VIII in 1519-20 and stands beside Tower Green, site of several famous executions. The chapel is the resting place of those who died there, including two of Henry VIII's wives, Queen Anne Boleyn and Queen Catherine Howard, Lady Jane Grey, and Sir Thomas More.
The Chapel of St. John the Evangelist on the first floor of the White Tower was historically the monarchs' private chapel until the time of Henry VIII and has one of the most important 11th century church interiors in England.
